Photo Exhibition Displaying the Wonders of the Philippines Opens in Mongolia
SocietyUlaanbaatar, December 9, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Embassy of the Philippines in Beijing, the People's Republic of China, and the Honorary Consulate of the Philippines in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, jointly opened the Photo Exhibition titled “Explore and Love the Philippines: Philippine Archipelagic Culture and Identity” in Mongolia on December 9, 2024.
“The Republic of the Philippines, an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia with a land area of 300,000 square kilometers, is located in the western Pacific Ocean. The country consists of 7,640 islands. These islands, abundant with unique natural formations, draw a high number of tourists,” highlighted Mr. Jaime A. FlorCruz, the non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Mongolia, at the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition. Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz also emphasized that the Philippines is focusing on fostering cooperation with Mongolia in education, tourism, and professional exchanges.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Mongolia Mr. Jaime A. FlorCruz: When I think of Mongolian winter, I imagine rolling hills, mountains, and steppes covered in a blanket of snow, an idyllic and lovely landscape that the Mongolian people have always known and enjoyed. When I think of a Philippine Christmas, I imagine warm and sun-kissed seas, bright Christmas lights, lanterns hanging on green trees, and fun-filled gatherings with family and friends at home or by the beach. And so we thought, why not bring these two worlds together right here in Ulaanbaatar? Through these pictures, I invite our Mongolian friends to virtually visit my home where you’ll find warm-hearted, hospitable people living in over 7,000 islands. There you will see breathtaking images of our rich archipelago, our identity, and our culture. We hope these images will spark irresistible interest among the Mongolian public in visiting and loving the Philippines. The Philippines is an archipelagic country located at the center of marine biodiversity. Being an archipelago not only defines the Philippines' geography, but it also has shaped and continues to shape our way of life. We invite you to snorkel in Boracay, dive in Palawan, swim with the sardines, or watch the whale shark in Cebu. Get tanned by the warm sunlight while listening to the waves of the sea. From your steppes to our shores… from your snow to our sand… come explore and LOVE THE PHILIPPINES!
As of today, approximately 500 Filipino citizens are living in Mongolia, while around 200 Mongolian citizens reside in the Philippines, most of whom are studying, according to unofficial sources.
A Mongolian citizen who has lived in the Philippines for over seven years also highlighted the country's rapid development in tourism.
Mungunkhishig Batbaatar, Country Director for People in Need (PIN) Mongolia: Since 95 percent of the population in the Philippines is Catholic, they adhere well to laws and ethics. Filipinos are known for excelling in childcare and nursing work internationally. Many of Asia's English teachers are based in the Philippines. So, Mongolia and the Philippines have a broad opportunity to cooperate in education. I have visited over 300 of the Philippines' 7,000 islands during my time in the Philippines over seven years. There are even tours that cover 100 islands in a single day. In terms of tourism, this country offers adventure travel. While Mongolia is known for its untouched wilderness and pristine nature, which is a dream for many in the Philippines, the islands of the Philippines are home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. When Mongolians visit the Philippines, they can explore the park named after Khubilai Khaan in the country's largest city. In addition to island tours, they can also experience historical and cultural landmarks.
The Philippines is the 46th largest economy in the world. With over 11 million Filipinos residing abroad, approximately 11 percent of its population lives outside the country. As outlined in its 1987 Constitution, the Philippines is a presidential republic, operating under a bicameral congress and an independent judiciary. Boracay, a popular tourist destination, is renowned for its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and stunning sunsets. Located in the southeastern part of the Philippines and spanning 8 kilometers, Boracay was named the world's most beautiful beach in 2024.
The Photo Exhibition titled “Explore and Love the Philippines: Philippine Archipelagic Culture and Identity” will continue until December 14, 2024, on the first floor of the Shangri-La Mall, Ulaanbaatar. Visitors will also have the opportunity to get travel information about the Philippines.
