Combat Engineers of the Mongolian Armed Forces General Staff Take Part in International Training Program

Ulaanbaatar, May 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Combat engineers of the Mongolian Armed Forces General Staff participated in an International Training Program held at the premises of the 1115th Engineer Corps, in the Republic of Korea. 


The six-week Training Program was held as part of the United Nations Triangular Partnership Programme, which aims at enhancing peacekeepers’ capacity in engineering, and the military cooperation and defense sector relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea.


This was the first Training Program in combat engineering initiated by the Republic of Korea, with troops from countries that actively participate in UN peacekeeping operations, including Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of Indonesia, and the Republic of the Philippines, having participated. The troops exchanged practical experience and received training on operating and maintenance of five types of engineering equipment that are widely used in peacekeeping operations, including heavy excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and road rollers.


The Closing Ceremony of the Training Program was attended by Brigadier General of the Republic of Korea Army Corps of Engineers Kim Tae-hoo, Head of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) East and North-East Asia Office Ganbold Baasanjav, Director of the International Policy Department of the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea Lee Seung-beom, and Defense Attaché of the Embassy of Mongolia in the Republic of Korea Colonel E. Tushig.


Noting the successful development and expansion of relations and cooperation in the defense sectors of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, Brigadier General Kim Tae-hoo, Chief of the Engineering Troops of the Ground Forces of the Republic of Korea, expressed deep appreciation for the outcomes of the first Consultative Meeting between the Ground Forces of the two countries in 2024.
