Chairman of the State Great Khural Pays Courtesy Call on Federal President of the Republic of Austria

Ulaanbaatar, May 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the invitation of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen is paying a State Visit to Mongolia on May 25-28, 2025.
On May 26, 2025, Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve paid a courtesy call on Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen.
Chairman Amarbayasgalan noted that this is the first State Visit by the Head of State of Austria to Mongolia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1963, emphasizing that the State Visit would be pivotal in elevating bilateral cooperation to a new level. Highlighting the expanding relations between the two countries, which share values of democracy, human rights, freedom, and rule of law, the Chairman of the State Great Khural expressed gratitude to Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen for Austria’s consistent support for Mongolia’s development of democracy, rule of law, parliamentary system, and market economy.
The Speaker of the State Great Khural underlined that cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries is vital for expanding bilateral relations and affirmed that the State Great Khural would fully support initiatives and proposals, aimed at invigorating the multifaceted relations between the Parliamentary Friendship Groups, strengthening future cooperation, and establishing the necessary legal framework, into tangible actions. Speaker Amarbayasgalan proposed developing the cooperation between Mongolia and Austria to consolidate parliamentary democracy and establish a comprehensive and transparent legal system that upholds human rights and meets social requirements.
Parliamentary Friendship Groups have been established in the Parliaments of the two countries. The Mongolia-Austria Parliamentary Friendship Group in the State Great Khural of Mongolia is chaired by MP Batsumberel Natsagdorj, with MPs Batbaatar Bat and Bolormaa Khukhkhuu serving as deputy chairs.
