Schedule of Traditional Mongol Wrestling Tournaments and Events of June 2025

Ulaanbaatar, June 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian National Wrestling Association (MNWA) has announced the schedule of traditional Mongol wrestling matches, tournaments, and events for June 2025.


On June 3, 2025, a 64-match wrestling competition commemorating the accomplishments of  Honored Athlete and Hero of Labor of Mongolia Munkhbat Jigjid will be held at the National Sports Stadium,  along with an Unveiling Ceremony of the statue of the legendary wrestler. Munkhbat Jigjid was the first-ever Mongolian silver medalist of the Olympics and also the first to win a bronze medal at the World Freestyle Wrestling Championship.


The Mongol Military Naadam will be organized on June 6, 2025. The Mongolian National Wrestling Association announced that wrestlers competing in the first title-awarding tournament of the year will be ranked according to their titles. Moreover, celebrating the glory of the State Lion Yandaa Batjargal, a 128-match wrestling tournament for State, Aimag, and Military titles will be organized on June 7, 2025.


After two postponements in May 2025, the 3x3 Wrestling Championships of Ulaanbaatar will take place on June 8-14, 2025, during which eight high-ranking wrestlers will be praised. Also, a freestyle wrestling tournament "Zalgamjlagch" [Successor], named after the "Arslan" Wrestling Club, will be held on June 12-13, 2025.


The highly anticipated Preliminary Wrestling Tournament for the Naadam Festival will be organized under the “Capital's Citizens' Day” with 256 wrestlers who hold State, Aimag, Military, and Soum titles. Additionally, wrestling matches of 64 Buryat and Inner Mongolian wrestlers will take place, concluding the Mongolian National Wrestling Association’s tournaments for the 2024-2025 season.
