Ulaanbaatar, August 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia’s “The MongolZ” CS2 team has claimed the championship title at the Esports World Cup 2025, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, securing the gold medal.
In the final match, they defeated the Republic
of Türkiye’s “Aurora” team with a 3:0 score:
·
Mirage – 16:14
·
Dust II – 13:9
· Nuke – 13:4
The champions were awarded USD 500,000. Sodbayar Munkhbold (Techno) was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, while teammate Azbayar Munkhbold (Senzu) also delivered an outstanding performance.
Notably, “The MongolZ” has been elevating Mongolia’s profile in the global esports scene. At this year’s competition, often called the “Olympics of Video Gaming,” they triumphed in the CS2 (Counter-Strike 2) category by eliminating the world’s number one team, Team Vitality, in the semifinals, marking their second consecutive victory over the powerhouse at major events. Team Vitality, widely regarded as the world's top CS2 team, has won every tournament it entered this season, including the BLAST Austin Major 2025 and six other Tier‑S tournaments, securing seven consecutive titles and maintaining the No. 1 global ranking. The MongolZ are the only team to have defeated Vitality twice this year.
