Mongolian Shooters Departed for the 16th Asian Shooting Championships

Ulaanbaatar, August 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Athletes representing Mongolia departed for Kazakhstan on August 14, 2025, to take part in the 16th Asian Shooting Championships.
The championships, covering adult, junior, and youth categories, commenced on August 15 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, and will run until August 30, 2025. A total of 25 Mongolian athletes are competing across the three categories under the guidance of National Team Coaches J. Gankhuyag and D. Oyun, together with Coaches Ts. Munkhzul, E. Yumjirmaa, G. Gankhuyag, and O. Tuguldur.
In the adult category, 13 athletes are competing. Rifle events feature N. Bayaraa, E. Sainkhuu, B. Erkhembayar, G. Nandinzaya, O. Yesugen, T. Zoljargal, T. Gantuul, T. Bayarmaa, and A. Buyandelger, while pistol events include E. Davaakhuu, Sh. Buyanzaya, E. Badamgarav, and T. Bayartsetseg. In addition, 11 athletes are participating in the junior division, with one competing in the youth category.
Mongolia won its first medal at the Asian Shooting Championships in 1987, when Honored Coach of Mongolia L. Undralbat earned bronze in the 50-meter pistol event, thereby becoming the first Mongolian shooter to secure qualification for the Summer Olympic Games. In the same year, L. Undralbat, T. Myagmarjav, and G. Baasantseren claimed Mongolia’s first team medal at the Asian Championships. Mongolia’s first gold medal in the discipline was won by D. Munkhbayar in 1991.
