Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries Held

Ulaanbaatar, September 29, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 24th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) was held in New York on September 26, 2025.


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh participated in the meeting and, in her statement, underscored that LLDCs can successfully achieve their set objectives by effectively and timely implementing the important tasks outlined in the Vienna Programme of Action, while steadfastly fulfilling their national-level commitments and obligations.


Minister Battsetseg further highlighted that the International Think Tank for LLDCs, headquartered in Ulaanbaatar, stands ready to support the effective implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action. The Minister also urged member countries to join the International Agreement on the Establishment of the Think Tank.


The Minister underlined that next year, Mongolia and Armenia will each host the Conferences of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and the Rio Convention on Biological Diversity respectively, which will serve as an important opportunity to advance the development agenda of LLDCs.


At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ministers adopted a Declaration reflecting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, ways to accelerate their progress, and the objectives, priorities, and activities of the new Programme of Action for LLDCs.
