Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake Hits Khuvsgul Aimag

Ulaanbaatar, October 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A 5-magnitude earthquake struck Tsetserleg soum of Khuvsgul aimag at 5:14 p.m. on October 21, 2025.
According to the
Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of Mongolia, the epicenter was located 18 km southeast
of Tsetserleg soum center, 62 km west of Tsagaan-Uul soum of Khuvsgul aimag,
and 76 km north of Tosontsengel soum of Zavkhan aimag.
During the first half of 2025, 24
earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.5–5.1 were recorded in Mongolia and its border
areas, representing an 11 percent increase from the same period last year.
