Ulaanbaatar, April 23, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The State Visit of the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, to the Republic of Kazakhstan is currently continuing in Astana.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed between Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia and the Chokan Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology, which operates under the Science Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

As a result, the two sides will intensify research on nomadic history, clarify similarities and long-term political, social, and cultural relations across different historical periods, and begin joint scholarly work. The agreement also opens opportunities to study Turkic and Uyghur history based on the collections of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, while enabling museum researchers to conduct studies on historical and cultural monuments located in Kazakhstan.

The Chokan Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology was established in 1945 in Almaty and serves as the country’s leading institution for historical research. It conducts fundamental studies on Kazakhstan’s history, the ethnocultural development of the Kazakh people, anthropology, source studies, and many other fields.
