Law on Railway Transport to be revised

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet discussed Monday the concept of the bill on Railway Transport and assigned the Minister of Road and Transport M.Zorigt to prepare the draft new wording of the law and to present it to the cabinet meeting in the near future.

The Law on Railway Transport allowed the entities to operate in the railway sector regardless of their ownership statuses, and drew the line between the state responsibilities and regular operations, while reforming the legal environment.

The Ministers considered that Mongolia has been missing an adequate transport system with new regulations, which will provide favorable business environment that promotes the public and private partnership in implementing several important projects to construct new railroads, to connect our railway system to the international network, and to introduce comprehensive logistics services into our transport system.
