Ulaanbaatar Metro Project Nears Completion of Feasibility Study

Ulaanbaatar, November 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ulaanbaatar Metro Project Team, in collaboration with professional organizations, is nearing completion of the project’s feasibility study and concept design. An environmental and social impact assessment is also underway.
According to the Office of the Governor of Ulaanbaatar, preparatory work is expected to conclude by December 2025, after which the final documents will be submitted to the coordinating bank, JP Morgan Chase, for review. Metro construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.
As part of ongoing international cooperation, Nyambaatar Khishgee, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, met with Um Sun-yong, the Executive Director and Head of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund at the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and Lee Ki-soo, the Director of the Infrastructure Finance Department, on November 10, 2025. The meeting was attended by key project officials and focused on implementation, progress, and future collaboration.
The Export-Import Bank of Korea brings extensive experience in financing metro and light rail transit projects, with prior involvement in developments in Panama, Dhaka, and Cairo.
