Trade unions of Mongolia and Belarus sign cooperation agreement

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) and the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) signed an agreement on cooperation, said BelTa in Minks on October 29. 

The document was signed during a visit of FTUB Chairman Mikhail Orda to Mongolia, as BelTA learned from the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. "During the visit, Mikhail Orda met with president of the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) Amgalanbaatar Khayankhyarvaa.

"The two sides discussed the bilateral cooperation, interaction between the nmember organizations, then shared experience in collective regulation of labor relations,” the press service informed. The parties signed a cooperation agreement, which "provides for a range of measures to promote interaction, including provision of free legal assistance to the FTUB and CMTU members, the development of the trade union education and tourism".

The Trade union leaders also agreed to expand contacts between sectoral trade unions of the agro-industrial complex, railway workers, transport and communications.

During the visit, the head of the Belarusian delegation met with Sainkhuu Ganbaatar, a member of the State Great Hural (parliament) of Mongolia, and officials of the CMTU sectoral trade unions. Mikhail Orda got acquainted with the work of the trade union organization of the Gobi factory which is the world's fifth biggest producer of cashmere products.

The issues of development of cooperation in trade union education were discussed during meetings with representatives of the CMTU Trade Union Learning Center and the Mongolian Institute of Labor and Social Relations. The cooperation in the field of culture was considered during a visit to the Trade Unions Central Palace of Culture of Mongolia.

The press service informed that the partnership of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and the Confederation of Mongolian trade unions "has been developing for many years. Along with the interaction between the national trade union federations, cooperation agreements have been concluded between the Minsk City Association of Trade Unions and the Federation of Trade Unions of Ulaanbaatar, the Institute of Labor and Social Relations at the CMTU and the International University MITSO of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus".

The Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) is a national trade union center in Mongolia. It was founded in 1927 as the Central Council of Mongolian Trade Unions. Today, the CMTU is the largest federation of Mongolia bringing together about 450,000 trade union members, comprising 14 sectoral federations and 22 regional trade union associations. It is also one of the most influential trade union organizations in the Asia-Pacific region, BELTA reported on Thursday.
