Ulaanbaatar and Budapest to cooperate in water management

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In frames of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Mongolia and Hungary, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul is paying a working visit to Budapest December 6-8 by invitation of the city Mayor Istvan Tarlos.

The two Mayors renewed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two cities, agreed to cooperate in and to exchange practices in green urban planning, frost-proof tree-planting and in treatment of drinking water, also to work together in commissioning an agricultural satellite city near "Biocombinat" by 2030, as agreed at the previous meeting of the intergovernmental commission. This cooperation aims to improve the meat processing standards and to boost meat-exporting opportunities.

As the above MoU states, the UB city is to send 10 urban planning specialists to Hungary for a capacity-building training, and the cities will exchange cultural days. Early 2016, the Hungarian drinking water experts will work in Ulaanbaatar.

The Mayor of UB also met the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Dr Istvan Mikola, a Hungarian chair of the Mongolia-Hungary intergovernmental commission.

On the sidelines of this visit, a cooperation agreement between Ulaanbaatar city development corporation and the Hungarian National Trading House was inked.
