Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 14, Minister of Food and Agriculture R.Burmaa attended the weekly “Hour of Minister” meeting. Efforts are being put to introduce intensive animal farming and to  meet the domestic consumption of wheat seed with domestic production, she noted.

Especially, sheep and cow framing should be intensified in purposes of preparing meat for export, she said, "so our Ministry is focusing on promoting import-substituting food production, specifically of meat and dairy products, and on limiting the import that threaten human health".

She also noted that 2015 became the year of most newborn livestock having welcomed over 18 million newborns, and a number of livestock reached 56 million.

A required funding of 100 billion MNT for ensuring the smooth functions of this spring’s planting is being financed by the Development Bank of Mongolia as a loan, while 20.0 thousand tons of wheat seed, to be imported, will be exempted from value-added tax, she said.

Some 80 billion Togrog has been budgeted for increasing the meat reserves for export and 100 billion MNT–for preparing export-targeted meat products. Mongolia is now exporting meat products to eight oblasts of Russia, to China and Vietnam.
