Mongolia-Canada developmental cooperation to expand
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ While paying the working visit to Canada, the Mongolian Minister of Finance B.Bolor has met with Ms Karina Gould MP, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development.
The Finance Minister thanked the Canadian government for involving Mongolia in a list of countries that receive assistance and for launching the first project within this aid.
In times of a shrink in developmental aid from developed countries, an involvement of Mongolia in the list of assistance as well as a boost of the win-win cooperation in the mining and investment areas are the evidence of the two countries’ aspirations to develop the economic cooperation under a mutual understanding and to realize a long-run policy for the ties, the dignitaries noted.
In connection with the above decision, the Finance Minister said he will promptly manage an establishment of an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding. He asked the Canadian side to focus the bilateral developmental cooperation on areas of not only mining, but also agriculture, education, empowering localities, and making reforms in the state services and laws.
The Finance Minister also said Mongolia wants to cooperate and study experiences in creating a fund of wealth within the law on heritage for next generation and setting up a body to manage the fund.
The Canadian side expressed its readiness to collaborate with Mongolia in these matters and underlined an importance of empowering a state body on the fund’s management and keeping it separate from political impact.
