EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of this year, 7.0 million ton of freight and 53.7 million passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by all types of transport.
The size of freight decreased in the first quarter of this year by 0.8 million tons or 10.7% and the number of passengers--by 22.5 million 29.5%.
In the first quarter of this year, 4,437 thousand tons of freight and 630.1 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by railway transport. The size of freight by railways decreased by 288.2 thousand tons or 6.9%, while the passengers decreased by 80.2 thousand or 11.3%.
The revenue from railway transport in the first quarter of 2016 reached MNT 87.0 billion, reflecting an increase of MNT 7.7 billion or 9.7% against the same period of the previous year.
In the same period, 635.8 tons of freight and 127.7 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by air transport. Freight by air declined by 7.8 tons or 1.2%, whereas the number of passengers had a remain with the level of the previous year. The revenue from air transport reached MNT 48.9 billion, showing a decrease by MNT 0.9 billion or 1.8% against the same period of the previous year.
