B.Ser-Od secures his 3rd champion title in UB int’l marathon
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ulaanbaatar international marathon was held on Saturday in frames of the “Friendly Ulaanbaatar” program.
The race registered 23,890 runners of 21 countries including the host country and USA, Great Britain, Kenya, China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Australia, Turkey, Finland and Spain. Ran in both professional and amateur divisions, they competed in distance categories of 42, 21 km, 10,000, 5,000 m and 1.5 km.
State Honored Sportsman and Asian champion B.Ser-Od won the UB marathon third time in the full-marathon, finishing the distance in 2 hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds. He was followed by Ts.Byambajav (2 hours, 21 minutes and 11 seconds) and J.Olonbayar (2 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds). B.Monkhzaya became the champion in the women’s full-marathon after covering the way in 2 hours, 37 minutes and 57 seconds.
In the amateur races, gold, silver and bronze medals went to runners of Mongolia and Japan.
69-year old G.Ayur from Gobi-Altai aimag was the oldest racer in the UB international marathon.
