Mongolians prefer organic in food products

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A variety of natural products produced by 'Wildlife Conservation Groups' from all parts of the country were on display during "Eco friendly production 2017" exhibition held at the central square on April 20.
The yesterday's event showed that the Mongolian people have become highly appreciative of pure natural products and prefer to use products with titles healthy and organic in their daily life.
The exhibition was held on the occasion of the second national forum of Wildlife Conservation Society, which is being organized under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Mongolia. Attended by more than 800 representatives of over 1690 cooperatives and governors of about 170 soums of 21 provinces of Mongolia, the forum is being organized at the State House on April 21, today.
As of today, there are 1629 cooperatives, over 1200 environmental NGO’s, 30 regional councils and 21 water basin administrations are running their activities nationwide. Moreover, some professional NGO’s carrying out environment management works with contract on two specially protected areas and 71 hunting zones. A total of 38 projects is being implemented at the initiative by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism with funding from international organizations as well. “All of these works are the results of the mutual management of cooperatives’ highlighted relevant officials attending the exhibition at the central square.
D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism, J.Munkhbat, MP and Head of Cabinet Secretariat, Kevin D. Gallagher, Deputy Representative of UNFAO in Mongolia and D.Ganselem, President of National Association of the Cooperatives partook at the opening of the exhibition.
The Mongolia’s Environment Minister said “The exhibition provides environmental protection cooperatives with a perfect opportunity to exchange experience on how to make their food products ‘perfect’ products. Also, it would be a productive event as forest cooperatives are gathered to enhance their management by exchanging views with each other. Also, the cooperatives organize workshops on capacity building for their member communities. I would like to express my gratitude to the National Association of Forestry cooperatives for organizing this event for the second time”.
At the exhibition, a myriad of natural products including fruits, plants and flowers as well as unique crafts and products handmade using the most mundane items were sold during the exhibition. Income earned from the exhibition will be dedicated to the activities directed at environmental protection.
