Antler gathering prohibited in forest steppe areas

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism has issued a resolution to prohibit antler gathering in the forest steppe zones during the dry season of spring in order to prevent fire hazard. The resolution is valid annually from March 20 through June 10 and between September 20 and November 10.
Since the beginning of this year, a total of 35 forest fires has occured nationwide caused by people travelling in the area, collecting antlers or harvesting pine nuts.
Therefore, the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia warns residents to properly dispose of cigarette butts and to fully extinguish a campfire while travelling around the forest steppe zones.
