Central region forum of mining sector takes place in Orkhon aimag

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/  On May 15-16, a central region forum of mining industry held in Orkon aimag on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the mining sector development in Mongolia. Representatives of miners and mining researchers and delegates of Darkah-Uul, Orkhon, Selenge, Khuvsgul, Bulgan, Tuv, Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai aimags and public and private organizations, including Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ministry of Energy, General Department of Taxation and General Agency for Specialized Inspection were in attendance. 

On May 15, discussions on ‘Legal environment of mining industry’, 'Development gateway of heavy industry’ and ‘Mining Industry and Cooperation of Local Community’ were held and a recommendation containing proposals put forward by over 400 participants was issued.

The forum was co-organized by the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, Authority of Mineral Resources and Oil and Erdenet Mining Corporation. Parliament members D.Damba-Ochir, G.Temuulen, A.Undraa, N.Ariunzaya and B.Saranchimeg attended to introduce a Lobby group to promote responsible mining and express their readiness to resolve urgent issues of policy and legal environment regarding the mining industry.
