Parking complex to be built at entrance to hiking trail of Bogd Khan Mountain

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A complex station of car and bicycle parking, bus stop and taxi stand will be built at the entrance to the hiking trail of the Bogd Khan Mountain, Strictly Prohibited Area (SPA), covering 1.2 ha of land. The Bogd Khan Mountain, lies in the south of Ulaanbaatar city is one of attractive traveling areas for Mongolians as well as foreigners.

There are three main routes of hiking trails to the Bogd Khan Mountain, and the busiest route Zaisan-Dugui Tsagaan-Baruun Shireet is occupied by 4000-5000 people during the weekends and 350-400 cars aggregate at the starting point, blocking the area.

Therefore, the Governor’s Office of the capital together with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism planned to build the parking complex with a capacity of 264 cars and 60 bicycles and with shopping and other service center and public toilet. MNT3 billion is allocated in the city budget for the complex establishment. Moreover, the Government made a decision to establish a tourist zone in the Bogd Khan Mountain SPA.

The complex will not only create a comfortable environment for hikers and travelers, but also it allows emergency organizations to reach to destination easily in times of emergency situations, including forest fire. In addition, it is expected to improve nature protection, waste and soil pollution management. The construction work is scheduled to be complete before Naadam National Festival on July 11.

Within road and road facility work plan of the city, 2.05 km of paved road will be built in the Bogd Khan SPA for travel purpose in 2017. The existing paved road with a width of 7-8 meter, was established in 1976 and it has no road and crossings for pedestrians, bus stops and road facilities.
