Prime Minister meets Japanese Speaker Tadamori Oshima

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On July 18, Tuesday, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Tadamori Oshima who is paying a visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Speaker of Mongolian Parliament M.Enkhbold.
The Prime Minister stressed that Mongolia prioritizes deepening the friendly relationship and strengthening the strategic partnership with Japan. He also touched upon the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, and the outcome of his official visit to the country. He also expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance within IMF’s Extended Fund Facility program.
“The Government is paying special attention to the implementation of Mongolia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement”, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat said. He also said that his Cabinet will support the establishment of an agreement on mutual exemption of double tax in the near future. Prime Minister J.Erdenebat also expressed satisfaction at the work of Japanese research team in Mongolia regarding the construction of a carbon chemical complex.
For his part, Speaker Tadamori Oshima emphasized that Japan and Mongolia share same values based on freedom and democracy. “Japan will focus on the implementation of medium-term Strategic Partnership program which was signed last March”, he said.
He also addressed the economic struggles in Mongolia, mentioning Japan’s similar experiences. “I am confident Mongolian Government can overcome this difficulty, and strengthen the economy”.
He also expressed that he will work towards development of private sector partnership, investment into Mongolia and implementation of joint projects and programs. He appreciated Mongolia’s support of Japan’s intention to join the UN Security Council as a permanent member.
The Japanese Speaker encouraged Mongolian athletes to actively participate in the 2020 Osaka Olympics, inviting them for joint trainings.
