Farewell ceremony of Mongolian team participating in XXIX Summer Universiade held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The XXIX Summer Universiade “Taipei 2017” will be taking place in Taipei, Taiwan on August 19-31.

The farewell ceremony of Mongolian team participating in the festival was held today on August 11 at Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports.

Over 12 thousand 500 athletes are participating from 162 countries in the international multi-sport event. At the farewell ceremony, Minister of Education, Health, Science and Sports G.Chuluunbaatar handed out the national flag of Mongolia to Judo athlete IM B.Sugarjargal, student at National Physical Institute, gold, silver and bronze medalist of 2013 Summer Unviersiade and wished him success. The Mongolian national team includes 76 athletes and officials, and will be competing in nine sports categories. Certain part of the traveling expenses, specifically MNT 59 million, is being covered by Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and Government Implementing Agency.  

The farewell ceremony was attended by Assessor of Asian University Sports Federation and First Deputy Chairman of Mongolian Student Sports Federation Ph.D D.Jargalsaikhan and Rector of Mongolian University of Life Sciences and Secretary of MSSF T.Kheruuge, as well as other officials.

On the side note, Mongolian athletes have won a total of 50 medals, specifically 11 gold, 14 silver and 25 bronze medals from 7 categories of Universiade in the past 52 years.
