Mongolia and Vietnam to widen cooperation scope

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold received Doan ThiHuong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mongolia on December 05.

M.Enkhbold congratulated Doan ThiHuong on her appointment as the Ambassador to Mongolia and wished success. He expressed Mongolia’s satisfaction with intensification of bilateral relations and constant mutual visits of top officials. M.Enkhbold further noted that many events successfully took place in 2017 such as visits of the Vice President of Vietnam to Mongolia and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia to Vietnam and intergovernmental commission meeting held in Ulaanbaatar. The Speaker also expressed satisfaction with deepening relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies, Parliamentary Friendship Groups, Standing committees and Parliamentary Offices of the two countries.

Ambassador Ms Doan ThiHuong conveyed a greeting of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam and invited Mongolia to participate in the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum in 2018. This year marks the 63trd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Vietnam.

The parties talked about importance of broadening trade and economic ties. During the intergovernmental commission meeting held in 2017, bilateral trade turnover is set to reach USD 70 million by 2020. While mentioning a wide range of possibilities to collaborate in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, light and food industries, the sides agreed to mutually export meat, meat products and processed leather from Mongolia and deep frozen chicken and pork from Vietnam.

Mr M.Enkhbold congratulated Vietnam on successful organization of APEC High-level Meeting last November, expressing Mongolia’s interest in joining APEC and attending South Asian high-level Meetings and his hope that Vietnam would keep supporting Mongolia actively for it. The ambassador affirmed Vietnamese continues support in this issue.

Ms Doan ThiHuong also underlined that Vietnam will pay special attention to use opportunities of cooperation in commerce and economy sectors. In connection, role of transit transportation is vital so there is a necessity to develop trilateral ties between Mongolia-China-Vietnam in transportation sector, she noted.
