Union of Mongolian Artists to celebrate 75th anniversary

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin congratulated the Union of Mongolian Artists on the 75th anniversary of the founding of modern fine arts in Mongolia.

On December 12, the Deputy Prime Minister met B.Tumurbaatar, President of the Council of the Union of Mongolian Artists and Council members J.Tsolmonkhuu and B.Nyamkhuu. “As a reflection of the development, history and culture of Mongolia, fine arts should be promoted on a government policy level,” Mr.U.Enkhtuvshin said.

President B.Tumurbaatar agreed with the Deputy Prime Minister saying that more government support was needed in the forms of purchase of best works to state fund, government-financed training of young artists in countries like Russia, Italy and France and assisting Mongolian artists in producing souvenirs.

“I will support a visionary, educational and constructive arts and cultural policy,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, promising to convey their request to Prime Minister and President.

Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin also informed the artists of a plan to expand the ‘Exquisite Mongolia’ annual exhibition & festival, held during national Naadam festival in summer, to an international dimension.

The 75th anniversary of founding and development of modern fine arts in Mongolia will be celebrated on December 16.

The Union of Mongolian Artists was established in December, 1942, pursuant to resolutions issued by the Central Committee of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party and Council of Ministers. The then Department of Fine Arts was re-organized as the Union of Mongolian Artists in 1955, during its first Assembly.
