Agriculture Minister pays working visit to Russia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry B.Batzorig paid a working visit to the Russian Federation on December 14-15.
The Mongolian delegation held a bilateral meeting with E.V.Gromyko, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia and other officials during this visit.
Minister B.Batzorig noted that he was beginning his first foreign trip as Minister with Russia as an indication of Mongolia’s interest to deepen traditional Mongolia-Russia relations and strengthen agricultural cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on various matters including establishment of a strip of forest in agricultural lands for prevention from possible risks, technological reform, and increasing the size of agricultural land with watering system.
The Mongolian side informed that the Parliament had adopted Laws on Livestock and Animal Health and Livestock Gene Pool. Within this regard, the Minister expressed Mongolia’s interest to intensify cooperation with the northern neighbor in areas such as continuation of the ‘Livestock Health Program II’, purchase of vaccines against livestock contagious diseases from only Russia and the delivery of last batch of murrain vaccines.
The Mongolian side also proposed to cooperate on implementation of the Mongolian Cabinet’s decision to export non-breeding sheep and goats, inquiring into possibilities of increasing the amount of export meat and meat products and supplying wheat as humanitarian aid.
The Russian Minister expressed readiness to put the issues touched upon during the dialogue into action as the sides agreed to form a joint working group to realize the talks.
The Russian side agreed to assist Mongolia in training agriculture workforce in the short and long term.
