New laws expected to increase meat export

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In conjunction with Laws on livestock health and on Livestock gene pool adopted by the Parliament, Member of Parliament G.Temuulen, Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry J.Saule and other related officials made report on December 15.
Animal husbandry sector makes up 30.4 percent of total work-force and 12.2 percent of gross domestic product, reaching its production to MNT3.5 trillion and 8.7 percent of total export revenue.

Implemention of the laws is expected to make several positive changes in animal husbandry sector. MP G.Temuulen said that in compliance with the Law on Livestock gene pool, first of all livestock will be registered providing guarantee for origin and hygiene of livestock and quality certificate to export livestock and meat. Also each soum will raise a herd of breeder, have professional zoologist and adhere policy to raise the cattle with economic purpose. Moreover the herder families will be registered as producer in animal husbandry sector. “As a result of these works it will provide basic condition to increase export of animal husbandry sector through improving breed of livestock, increasing productivity and confirming its origin”.
The laws will enter into force on June 1, 2018.
