Mongolian and British Red Cross provide cash support to herding families

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian Red Cross Society and the British Red CrossSociety have provided cash support of MNT 240 thousand to 1170 herding families, totalling MNT 280.8 million.
The two organizations started implementing a project Forecast Based Finance on December 28. According to the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring (NAMEM), 40 per cent of the country are in high-risk of zud while medium-risk has occurred in 30 per cent of the country.
So, the Mongolian Red Cross Society is working to support 2000 herding families of 40 soums in 12 aimags which are in high-risk of zud. In addition, they are also working on providing fodder to herders.
