Fight against tuberculosis to be supported by Harvard

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science Yo.Baatarbileg held a meeting with Professor Megan Murray of Harvard University and Professor D.Ganmaa, founder of ‘MHI’ NGO on January 16. The meeting was also attended by project specialists.

Megan Murray is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard Medical School and an expert on molecular and genomic epidemiology of tuberculosis. Professor D.Ganmaa stated, “The purpose of this meeting is to actualize a program to fight against tuberculosis, following the example of ‘Whole Liver Mongolia’ program's successful implementation. Harvard research department is ready to help Mongolia by providing support in research, survey and technology. Our mission is to implement ‘Tuberculosis-free Mongolia’ and become the first Asian country to eliminate the disease. The scope of the project would be 5 years - starting 2017 and ending 2022“.

Mr Baatarbileg noted the Standing Committee is ready to offer policy support to fight against tuberculosis, reported Parliament’s Media and Public Relations Department.
