Deputy Minister S.Mungunchimeg attends ECOSOC Youth Forum

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Mungunchimeg attended the 7th Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum held on January 30-31 in New York, USA under theme ‘The role of youth in building sustainable and resilient urban and rural communities’.
During her attendance, Deputy Minister S.Mungunchimeg delivered information on Government policy of Mongolia and actions on youth development, participating in an Interactive roundtable of featuring Ministers and other High-Level Speakers.
Mongolia adopted Law on Youth Development to improve legal environment for youth development and engagement and organized a forum ‘Youth participation in sustainable development goals’ to ensure participation of youths at policy-making level. Recommendations made from the forum were reflected in draft of youth national program, highlighted the Deputy Minister in her speech.

The Youth Forum has been organized annually by the ECOSOC since 2012 and it offers opportunity for youth to discuss pressing issues with global leaders at the UN level and gives opportunity to countires to share experience on taking actions and experience in youth development.
More than 600 delegates and 80 high-level officials gathered at this year forum, discussing ensuring youth engagement in realization of sustainable development goals. Attendees of the forum agreed on significance of backing youths' initiatives and participation and close cooperation between international, state, private organizations and NGOs.
