Mongolia-Turkey trade turnover to increase

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During his meeting with journalists on February 6, Ambassador of Turkey to Mongolia Ahmet Yazal claimed the Embassy is working on increasing trade turnover between the two countries twice in 2018 comparing to that for the last year.
Trade turnover between Mongolia and Turkey was USD 30 million in 2017, and there is feasibilities to double it in size. Moreover, it is even possible to make it reach USD 300-500 million, he said. For this purpose, the embassy is working on increasing the number of flights being made by Turkish Airlines up to all seven days a week. "To shorten time gap between flights and to provide passenger’s convenience we need to cancel seats' quota which is now 500 per week and make more frequent flights by large airplanes, the Ambassador elaborated.
In addition, Ambassador Ahmet Yazal said TICA started to run its operation in coherence with initiatives and proposals forwarded by government organizations of Mongolia in order to enhance efficiency of TICA projects and investment. In the past, about 500 projects and programs were implemented by TICA, 80 percent of which was accomplished last year. We are paying more attention to ongoing implementation of projects in rural areas rather that launching, he said.

Furthermore, the Embassy is making emphasis on bilateral cultural cooperation. Thus, several projects was launched in this sphere last year. Specifically, Turkic monuments in Orkhon valley were taken under protection with the support of Government of Turkey and international organizations. Besides, a work on establishing a museum nearby the monument to Tonyukuk has been commenced. Also over 100 Turkish scientists will arrive in Mongolia in June, reported the Ambassador during the meeting.
