Consultative meeting on labour and social welfare takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A National consultative meeting for officials of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Labour started on March 13 at the Chinggis Khaan Hotel.
 
More than 250 administrative officials out of 7187 public servants working in the labour and social welfare sector are taking part at the meeting to discuss the sector’s policy, activities, problems and to formulate further policy.
 
The Government of Mongolia approved the ‘Three-pillar development policy’ this February. Minister of Social Welfare and Labour S.Chinzorig noted that one of the key pillar strategies of this policy is unemployment and poverty reduction.
 
The Ministry of Social Welfare and Labour plans to implement targeted projects to support self-employment and household production, train and employ unemployed people by signing contracts with herders. It’s also planned to develop and implement child protection and development service package plans, improve discipline and  productivity of all organizations and officials in 2018.
 
“The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been paying close attention to the development of the population of Mongolia, especially children and youth. We are extremely grateful to the Government of Mongolia for the establishment of the ‘Family, Children and Youth Development Agency’, which aims to develop the future generations of children and youth,” said the UNFPA Country Representative in Mongolia, Naomi Kitahara during the meeting.
 
The consultative meeting ends tomorrow, on March 14.
