Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President Kh.Battulga addressed the current state of shoe industry in Mongolia, the challenges shoemakers face and the domestic demand as he visited ‘Best Shoes’ shoe factory on March 19.

Founded in 2001 with domestic investment, the ‘Best Shoes’ factory is now capable of producing 600-700 pairs of shoes on daily basis. The factory’s products include shoes for all seasons, traditional shoes and work shoes.

The company representatives relayed to the President that the factory does not work in its full capacity, and neither do the other shoes factories.

“We only produce 200-250 pairs a day when there is an order. We believe that it is possible to fully supply the domestic demand for work shoes. But the customers like the National Emergency Management Agency and the internal troops announce their tenders at the same time, which makes it difficult for shoemakers to manufacture all the shoes in a short amount of time,” explained factory Director B.Tuvdennyam, requesting the President to help amend the related laws on the tender announcement.
