Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) have been introducing CDIO approach to develop pedagogical skills within the framework of the project ‘Higher Education Reform.

Worldwide CDIO Initiatives is an engineering education system that creates real operation and products in context of Conceiving---Designing---Implementing---Operating, updates engineering education according to the context and aims to give engineering fundamental knowledge, ability, personal formation and attitude to students that will be used in practice.

MUST has intensively introduced CDIO approach since 2011, after studying experiences of training technology and methodical reform in the world leading universities and colleges.

Programs of ‘Telegraph’, ‘Industrial Automation’ and ‘Technology in Textile Industry’ have been chosen for the project ‘CDIO Introduction in three programs of Engineering and Technology in MUST’ and  numerous works have been done to create learning environment of the programs, to purchase equipment, improve and update curriculum, prepare online lessons and evaluate the programs.  The project is being implemented with the financing from Asian Development Bank through High Education Reform project unit of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports (MECSS).

Becoming a member university of CDIO in 2015, MUST signed a cooperation agreement with the MECSS and Temasek Foundation of Singapore. The University is also collaborating with Singapore Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic International, CDIO center in Asia Region.

Update of  training activities under CDIO standard and methodology would lead to increase number of programs to be accredited in Mongolia and at international level and provide opportunities to prepare well-educated professionals who meet market demands.

Within the scope of improving training quality and prepare engineers, MUST intends to implement national program ‘Outcome based Education’ which included in Government Action Plan, to broaden works to introduce CDIO in engineering and technological higher education and to cooperate with CDIO universities and colleges in Asia region and to commence work to get permission and support from Temasek Foundation to realize the next stage program ‘Advancing CDIO’.
