Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ “There are much possibilities to expand Mongolia-China economic cooperation in agriculture and tourism, besides mining. Mongolia’s agricultural and food products are highly valued as pure and organic in any country in the world," highlights D.Gankhuyag, Mongolia’s Ambassador to China, in his recent interview taken by a Correspondent of MONTSAME News Agency in Beijing.
“As a result of Mongolia’s request in 2015 to export beef, mutton and goat meat to China, the country had been exporting a certain amount of meat from September, 2015; but temporarily stopped due to animal disease. As there is such big market and much demand of Mongolian meat in China, a permit on exporting meat was received from related organizations. Importantly, the Chinese side urges to supply meat that meets quality standards without interruption. This business opportunity has to be thoroughly used for a long terms. We have much possibility to cooperate in processing Mongolia’s animal husbandry raw materials, milk, meat and leather and export to markets of Chinese and other countries. Also, it brings a cooperation opportunity to cooperate actively in the field of livestock health,” added the Ambassador.
China’s ratification of the ‘Agreement between the Government of the Mongolian People's Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the Access to and from the Sea and Transit Transport by Mongolia through China's Territory’ is important to confirm Mongolia’s possibility to export its goods to third markets and increase sea ports that Mongolia can use.
Moreover, the Ambassador cited about more possibilities to develop economic cooperation with China, putting an emphasis in tourism and energy sectors. He said, “In recent years, China is still leading in the world with its number of tourists. The income from Chinese tourists has an impact on a country’s economy. In some countries, there are favorable conditions to attract Chinese tourists. We need to study from examples of other countries within the cooperation. Further, we need to develop balanced trade and diversify export goods that substitute each other. In addition, bilateral cooperation in energy is expanding day by day. Mongolia is rich in energy coal. Taking this advantage, Mongolia is interested in producing energy and exporting its produced energy to China and other bordering regions.”
