Livestock birthing at 15.4 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of 2018, 4.3 million head of livestock brought forth offspring, which is 15.4 percent of the total expected 28.2 million, reports the National Statistics Office.
 
There are 17.3 percent of ewes, 16.1 percent of female goats, 13.1 percent of female camels, 5.8 percent of cows and 1.9 percent of mares brought forth offspring.
 
Compared with the same period of the previous year, 97.4 percent or 4.2 million of new born animals survived and it is decreased by 1.2 million heads (22.2percent).
 
In the first quarter of 2018, the number of natural losses of adult livestock reached 1.1 million heads, increased by 847.9 (4.2 times more) thousand heads compared with the same period of the previous year.
