Mongolia-Austria business forum held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ninth Mongolia-Austria business forum took place successfully on May 25 in Shangri-La hotel, Ulaanbaatar. The forum was co-organized by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), the Ulaanbaatar Chamber of Commerce (UBCC), the Business Council of Mongolia, the Commercial Division of the Embassy of Austria in Beijing.
Opening remarks were made by Ms. M.Oyunchimeg, CEO of MNCCI, Dr. Martin Glatz, Austrian Commercial Counsellor for China and Mongolia, and Mr. Friedrich Stift, Ambassador of Austria to the People’s Republic of China.
Mentioning that this forum has become a tradition to be organized once a year, Mr. Friedrich emphasized that current ties in trade have not reached a satisfactory level although the bilateral relations are going well. So, the two countries should make the commercial ties more dynamic, he said, and added Austrian business delegates arrived here intend to learn new business opportunities in Mongolia.
“Mongolia has vast territories, rich mineral resources, beautiful landscapes and great potentials to boost the cooperation in the fields of mineral, agriculture and tourism. We hope that during this meeting business opportunities could be explored because Austria has plentiful experiences in know-how in the fields of environment, environmental technologies, water, renewable energy, hospitals, machinery and tourism,” Mr. Friedrich said. He wished the business forum could succeed and all the businesspeople at the forum had good mutual introduction at B2B meeting.
In her remarks, Ms. Oyunchimeg expressed thanks to the Austrian business delegates for attending the forum and noted a number of joint projects have been implemented with contributions to the Mongolian economy. She announced that the Mongolian-Austrian Cooperation Council under the MNCCI was established last month. This Council has the importance for boosting the bilateral relations, Ms. Oyunchimeg said, and then introduced President of the newly established Council and its Board members.

Following the presentation, a panel discussion entitled ‘Recent Development in Mongolia – Opportunities and Risks’ was held with participation of Marco Ferri, Charge d’Affaires and Delegation of the European Union to Mongolia, Neil Saker, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund for Mongolia, D.Jargalsaikhan, Executive Director of the De Facto Gazette, D.Onchinsuren, CEO of the UBCC, P.Chimednyam, Director of Operations of BCM, and Mr. Martin Glatz as the moderator. They gave evaluation on a current development of the Mongolian economy, and mainly discussed ways to boost it further.
During the forum, representatives of Austrian companies including the AME International, Hawle, KRAL, Raiffeisen Bank International, TenCate, Bank Austria and Vamed that were comprised in the delegation made presentation of their products and services.
