Spring sowing running at 60 percent nationwide

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ In 2018, crop farmers plan to sow on 513.2 thousand ha nationwide and 408.9 thousand ha will be for grains. Wheat will be planted on 390.4 thousand ha, potato -- 15.5 thousand ha, vegetables -- 8.5 thousand ha, fodder plants -- 32.0 thousand ha, oil plants -- 41.9 thousand ha, berries -- 6.5 thousand ha.
As of May 31, grains have been sown on 293.9 thousand ha nationwide, potato -- 9.0 thousand ha, vegetables – 3.5 thousand ha, oil plants – 26.2 thousand ha, or 342.9 ha in total. That means overall nationwide sowing is running at about 60 percent on average.
According to the government resolution, a price of selling an imported elite seed was fixed to be MNT660 thousand per ton, the first-grade seed to be MNT620 thousand per ton and domestic harvest seed to be MNT570 thousand per ton.
Currently, 27.8 thousand tons of seeds have been supplied through the Crop Farming Support Fund to 560 entities and individuals with the advance payment of 10 percent to farmers of Tuv, Khentii, Dornod and Sukhbaatar aimags and 30 percent to others.
