Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During the ‘Current state and future tendencies of art and cultural sectors’ conference held on June 7, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh emphasized that the art and cultural sectors play significant role in strengthening intellectual immunity of Mongolia, restoring history, traditions and customs and passing it to the younger generations.

“Intellectual immunity in the country is weak. The tendency of neglecting and forgetting the history of our ancestors, culture, customs and traditions increases and the youth is strongly influenced by foreign culture and ideology through films and art. It is believed that artists are obliged to enlighten the society. Therefore, I encourage all the artists to cooperate with the Government,” noted PM U.Khurelsukh.

The representatives of art and culture sectors put proposals to establish the Ministry of Culture and publicly use the Mongolian script. They also requested the government to support personnel trainings abroad and exempt bookstores and movie theatres from VAT.

Prime Minister said that he will pay attention on their proposals and initiatives, and in order to implement the work the Prime Minister’s National Council on Culture and Arts would be established.
