‘Beginning’ contemporary art exhibition to open

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An exhibition of contemporary art works titled ‘Beginning’ to open on June 16 at the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery.
In 1989-1990, Mongolian contemporary art was set up by number of open minded young artists with their own artistic insights apart from the social processes happening at that times. The joint exhibition by nine artists displays historically significant works by the first contemporary artists including G.Erdenebileg, Yo.Dalkh-Ochir, B.Gansukh, S.Mashbat, S.Bayanmunkh, B.Vandan, Z.Usukhbayar and M.Khuyag-Ochir.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of formation of curators in Mongolia, who have been working to make audiences understand the contemporary art. Art researcher Ts.Uranchimeg is the first curator of Mongolia, who has been working to introduce curator’s work to Mongolia since 1993. She had exhibited works of 15 Mongolian artists in US, Germany and Japan between 1993-1997 and launched an exhibition titled ‘Curator and Artist’ to promote curatorial activities with support from the Soros Foundation in 2001.
‘Beginning’ contemporary art exhibition will bring total of 80 historical and new works and a new book titled ‘Mongolian Fine Art Studies Articles, 1993-2018’.
The exhibition will run until June 21.
