‘Bargajin-2018’ international festival running in Dornod aimag

Dornod/MONTSAME/ ‘Bargajin-2018’ international festival is taking place these days in Choibalsan, Dornod aimag.

The 4th edition of the festival brought together barga ethnics from Dornod aimag of Mongolia, Kurumkan and Bargujin provinces of Buryatia, Russian Federation, and New Barag Left Banner, New Barag Right Banner and Old Barag Banner of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the Republic of China.
 
The festival was first organized in 2007 in Khulunbuir soum of Dornod aimag with a purpose to enrich cultural treasures of barga traditions and heritage, restore and disseminate barga custom and pass down the traditions and custom to young generation.
 
In the opening, Governor of Dornod aimag M.Badamsuren said, “Ethnic groups of Khalkh, Barga, Buryat, Uzemchin and Khamnigan have been living in the vast area of eastern Mongolia for long period with their unique way of life, traditions and custom. In the 21st century, the ethnic groups encounter necessity to restore, safeguard and inherit abundant heritage of their history, culture and traditions. Barga is Mongolia’s ethnic group which played an important role in the history of national freedom and independence”.

‘Bargajin-2018’ festival features various events, including three manly games, barga song competition and fashion contest. Moreover, a scientific conference entitled ‘Pressing issues in Barga Studies’ and a photo contest ‘Bargajin-I, II, III’ are being organized.
