Orbis to render medical service to over 200 people

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the invitation of the Ministry of Health, the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital arrived in Mongolia for the 8th time.  

The hospital will host three-week program at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health (NCMCH) and the First State Central Hospital from August 12 to August 20.

The hospital started implementing long term projects since 2015 at NCMCH and hospitals in 5 aimags, aiming to improve treatment of optical defect, visual examination, cross-eye, eye surgery for children and assistance and service of DNR.



"The Flying Eye Hospital has realized 7 programs since 1989. North Asian branch of Orbis launched its operation in Ulaanbaatar city in 2014 and is implementing 5-year project on improvement of optical treatment aid and service for children in collaboration with NCMCH and Health Department of 5 aimags. It is important  to pay attention on paralysis of the extraocular muscles and eye examination. The project is playing an important role to introduce world standard practices in Mongolia. As a result of the project, the country will have capacity  to conduct surgeries beginning from vision disorder of premature infant to restore eyesight, said John Ranck, President of the Orbis Hospital.  

The Orbis Hospital has provided eye exams to over 23 thousand children, medical treatment for over 11 thousand children and surgery for 912 children in the recent years in Mongolia. This time, the hospital will conduct trainings for 256 opticians and specialists and will render medical services to 225 people.
