PM expresses high gratitude for UNDP support
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On September 27, Mongolian PM U.Khurelsukh, who is participating in the 73rd Session of UN General Assembly, had a meeting with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) A.Steiner and exchanged views on the partnership between Mongolia and the UNDP.
PM U.Khurelsukh expressed his interest in partnering with the UNDP in fields of society and economy, poverty, children, women and environment and implementation of the “Sustainable Development - 2030” program.
Mentioning that Mongolia would present its national report on the implementation of the “Sustainable Development - 2030” program during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2019, the PM also noted the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) officially started its full operations, which is the first international organization to have its headquarters in Ulaanbaatar and expressed his gratitude for the UNDP for actively cooperating in realization of the initiative and hopes that the organization would continue on supporting the center in the future.
Administrator of the UNDP A.Steiner expressed his admiration for concurrently having solved complicated issues, such as changing to a democratic system, overcoming economic difficulties and fortifying governance and his appreciation of the high priority from the PM in successfully implementing the “Sustainable Development - 2030” program by adapting it to the country.
Furthermore, he also noted that the air pollution of Ulaanbaatar is a difficult challenge and the partnership will continue in helping to solve numerous social and economic issues, such as poverty, housing and funding and expressed his readiness to support and partnership from the side of the UNDP for developing the main sectors, including energy and infrastructure.
