Autumn session of Parliament opens
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Today, a regular autumn session of Mongolia’s Parliament opened, with 83.7 percent turnouts. Present at the opening were President Kh.Battulga, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, Government members, head and members of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, chiefs of some public organizations and heads of foreign diplomatic services and international organizations in Mongolia.
At the opening ceremony, Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold delivered remarks. He said that during the autumn session, the parliament intends to discuss some important timely bills and resolutions including the Bill to amend the Constitution of Mongolia, bill on State Budget 2019, revised bill of general taxation law, revised bills of parliamentary, presidential elections and legal status of the capital city as well as others. Mr. Enkhbold stressed, “An issue regarding amendments to the Constitution has been talked over at several parliaments and the bill was formulated. Therefore, this time we aim to discuss and approve it. According to the first half of this year, actual economic growth reached 6.3 percent. In 2018, Mongolian government repaid debt worth MNT753.3 billion. External and internal debts, which equaled 78.8 percent of the GDP in 2016, decreased to 63 percent by half of this year. Also an issue on raising salary and retirement pension in correlation with budget and financial capability will be reflected in the next year’s state budget. Public service will be skilled, but compact. We appeal all levels of government organizations to cut the number of employees and budget by 10 percent this year.”
He also asserted about issues regarding health, education, law and child protection fields.
