Deputy PM meets Deputy Assistant Secretary W.Patrick Murphy

On October 9, Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin met W. Patrick Murphy, Deputy
Assistant Secretary for Southeast Asia at U.S Department of State, at the State
House.
Mr. Enkhtuvshin
expressed his satisfaction with active relations and cooperation of the two
countries and highlighted many important events, in particular that the countries
agreed to elevate bilateral relations into expanded comprehensive partnership
and signed the Mongolia Second Compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation
during recent visit of Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh to the United States.
Mongolia considers the
U.S. as its important third neighbor and close friend, he noted and expressed
the country’s intention to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation and to
realize issues agreed during the PM’s visit, added Mr.Enkhtuvshin.
Mr.Murphy concurred with what Mongolian Deputy PM has said, and congratulated on signing the Second Compact by qualifying certain requirements. He also noted visible outcomes due to its involvement in the Extended Fund Facility arrangement of the International Monetary Fund, expressing his hope that Mongolia will decisively implement EFF, improve its fiscal discipline and grow economy.
At the meeting, Mr.
Enkhtuvshin handed over a letter of gratitude of the Mongolian PM for Vice
President of the United States Michael R. Pence and U.S. Secretary of State
Michael R. Pompeo.
Additionally, they
exchanged views on relations between legislative and other public
organizations, people-to-people ties, peacekeeping operations and regional
security.
