Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The artists of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will be starting off their new show season with one of the funniest operas, the Barber of Seville, directed by the Italian director Stefano Monti on October 20.

Ever since the first time the opera was performed on the stage of the theatre, it was re-staged two times with talents of three generations in 39 years. As according to their policy on performances, the opera was performed in its mother tongue as per international standards last year.

Despite being written over 200 years ago, the newly directed version was highly approved which brought the opera closer to the modern times by a whole century, of which plot takes place in the 19th century--the time of great developments in the global economy and culture.

The audience is sure to spend a great evening by watching the fun events that take place on stage in a new period of time and a unique stage. Tickets will be sold at MNT10,000, 15,000 and 20,000.

While the opera first premiered in Teatro Argentina of Italy in 1816, it was first performed at our theatre on October 13, 1979. The Barber of Seville is one of the leading operas that is frequently played in many different ways.
