Anti-corruption authority mounts large-scale campaign in education sector
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Independent Authority against Corruption of Mongolia (IAAC)
has launched a large-scale campaign in the education sector, paying special
attention to corruption in the sector.
T.Bayarkhuu, Commissar at IAAC, at a monthly press conference of the agency, said “Some officials of the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports assigned
the School No.1
authorities to enroll 41 children. Even though the IAAC advised that non-resident enrollment shall run
transparent, no action has been taken in this regard. The authority will continue
inspecting the registration and enrollment procedures.”
After this statement, the IAAC arrested and detained Director of the School No.1 G.Bum-Erdene being caught red-handed taking a bribe. The person who was bribing was arrested
with the Director. The well-known School No.1 in Ulaanbaatar has
high reputation and parents wish to enroll their children
in the school for providing high quality education. Seven days after the arrest, L.Erdene,
Director of a Cambridge school ‘Shine Ehlel’ (New Beginning), also
regarded as one best schools, was also arrested red-handed accepting a bribe.
The IAAC, aside from investigation, deals with prevention of corruption,
thus it is taking sequential actions on detecting and eradicating the causes and
situation that bring corruption to education sector.
