L.Eldev-Ochir is attending the Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and
Malnutrition, being held in Madrid, Spain on October 29-30.
Being organized by Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the first time, the summit
has brought together over 260 participants from 80 countries.
In the opening of the summit, Spanish Senator Alberto Fabra pointed out that malnutrition and hunger are critical issue for worldwide, underlining an importance of information and experience sharing by world countries, especially between legislative bodies of the countries.
The summit
focuses on achievement to ‘Sustainable Development Goal 2’ of UN 2030 Agenda at the
international level, which pledges to end hunger, ensure food security and
improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
According to FAO, the number
of undernourished people in the world reached to 821 million in 2017, with an
increase of 16 million, compared with 2016.
