Mongolia’s contribution highly appraised for strengthening trust in Northeast Asia
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On November 19, Foreign Affairs Minister D.Tsogtbaatar met Miroslav Jenca, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and exchanged views on Mongolia-the UN relations and cooperation and other regional issues.
Mr. Tsogtbaatar noted
Mongolia’s unwavering support for UN’s mission towards maintaining global peace
and security and overcoming common challenges and barriers facing international
community by joint force.
He spoke about significance of Mongolia’s participation in UN peacekeeping mission, Mongolia’s
nuclear-weapon free status and an initiative ‘Ulaanbaatar Dialogue’, which are evidence of Mongolia’s actual contribution to maintain not only regional but also international security.
Mr. Miroslav Jenca highly appraised
Mongolia for attaching great importance to multilateral cooperation and
emphasized that Mongolia’s bilateral and multilateral relations with
regional countries make valuable contribution to maintain peace and security in
Northeast Asia and strengthen confidence. He underlined that UN Department of Political
Affairs supports the ‘Ulaanbaatar Dialogue’.
Minister D.Tsogtbaatar
pointed out importance of talks and diplomatic methods in maintaining
regional and global peace and security, while introducing an initiative ‘Awards
for future peace, progress and prosperity’ dedicated to young diplomats and
researchers. In turn, Mr. Jenca
appreciated the significance of the initiative and expressed his commitment to study
a possibility to collaborate for it.
At the meeting, the sides
agreed to co-organize a workshop ‘Youth, peace and security’ in 2019 with
involvement of representatives of Northeast Asian youth.
