Progress of Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor Establishment Program discussed
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Consultative meeting of the trilateral
working group on implementation of the Program on Establishing Economic
Corridor between Mongolia, China and Russia was held in Ulaanbaatar on December
11.
The meeting was co-chaired by V.Enkhbold, Director-General
of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Mongolia, Andrey Zelenev, Deputy Director of the Department of Asia,
Africa and Latin America of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Zhang Ming, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Western Region Development of the National
Development and Reform Commission of China.
At the meeting, the sides reviewed current cooperation in the implementation of the program and exchanged views on further actions to be taken.
For instance, the issues discussed were the formation of a joint working group
to conduct feasibility study for reforming the central railway corridor in
stages, implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the countries
on International Road Transport along the Asian Highway Network as well as
establishment of the Investment and Design Centre in Ulaanbaatar. Moreover,
views were shared on construction of Erdenet-Ovoot railroad, capacity enhancement of Asian Highway 3 route as well as opportunities of implementing joint
projects in energy sector.
In conclusion, the sides agreed to be attentive towards realizing what has been agreed during the meeting and to discuss the outcomes at a meeting of the working group heads to take place in 2019. Furthermore, a protocol was released from the meeting. On the same day, the representatives of the three countries got acquainted with operation of the Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC.
